What to expect from a Thai Yoga Session

Whether you are looking to unwind, move more freely, or reconnect with your body, Thai Yoga Massage offers a nurturing space to slow down, restore, and heal. Sessions are performed fully clothed on a padded mat. Please wear comfortable clothing that allows for movement. Thai Yoga Massage combines rhythmic compression, assisted stretching, and mindful touch to create a grounding and therapeutic experience tailored to your body’s needs.

Thai Yoga Massage

Thai Yoga Massage is a deeply restorative bodywork practice that combines assisted stretching, gentle movement, acupressure, and mindful touch to help the body release tension and restore balance. Often called “lazy yoga,” this practice is performed fully clothed on a comfortable floor mat and is designed to create ease in both body and mind.

Each session is personalized to support your individual needs — whether you are seeking relaxation, increased mobility, stress relief, or recovery from physical activity.

Benefits of Thai Yoga Massage

Thai yoga massage offers a variety of benefits for both physical and mental well-being:

  • Reduces back pain: Research indicates that Thai massage can help alleviate upper and lower back pain, often through the yoga poses incorporated into the session.

  • Reduces headache pain: Studies suggest that Thai massage may help reduce the intensity of chronic headaches and migraines.

  • Increases flexibility and range of motion: Through passive stretching and yoga-like movements, Thai massage can improve flexibility, mobility, and posture.

  • Lowers stress and promotes relaxation: Thai massage helps melt away stress and tension, allowing for deep relaxation, especially when combined with sufficient rest.

  • Boosts energy and vitality: By activating the body's natural energy channels, Thai massage can replenish energy, improve mental clarity, and restore a sense of well-being.

  • Helps alleviate joint pain: Thai massage can be beneficial for conditions like osteoarthritis of the knee, providing relief from pain.

  • Supports natural detoxification: This practice can uniquely support the body’s natural detoxification process, contributing to overall health

  • What a Thai Yoga Massage Session Includes

During a typical 60-75-minute Thai yoga massage session, you can expect the following:

    • Loose-fitting clothing: You remain clothed throughout the massage, so it's important to wear comfortable, loose-fitting attire.

    • Mat on the floor: Sessions usually take place on a mat or mattress on the floor, not a traditional massage table

    • Assisted stretches and yoga poses: The practitioner will guide you through a series of stretches and yoga-like movements, using their body weight and pressure to assist you.

    • Targeted pressure: The therapist will use their hands, thumbs, elbows, forearms, and sometimes even their feet to apply pressure and manipulate muscles, focusing on energy lines (sens).

    • Focus on energy flow: The goal is to move internal energy throughout your body systems to achieve wellness, with the therapist often sending "loving kindness" (metta) during the session
